1. Boil 3 cups of water in a pot.

2. Add the contents of the package and 2 teaspoons of oil (coconut oil, avocado oil, olive oil or ghee). Stir, reduce heat and simmer covered for 25 minutes.

3. Remove from heat and enjoy warm after cooling down for 3-4 minutes.

This package serves two 12 oz cooked bowls designed to be cooked at once. If not cooked together, the taste will vary due to uneven spice distribution. The lentils and rice should break down and dissolve into a creamy consistency. Add water to the pot as needed to avoid the bottom from sticking.

Add up to 2 cups of cut vegetables to the pot at their appropriate cooking times. Adjust salt as needed. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro and freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice.

HEALING SPICES

Cumin SeedS

Balancing to all three doshas (tridoshic), cumin is a warming spice with a pungent taste. It is excellent in supporting digestion and treating digestive issues, as well as helping flush toxins out of the body.

TURMERIC

Balancing to all three doshas (tridoshic), turmeric is a warming spice with a bitter taste. It is revered as the king of spices due to its many healing benefits attributed to its antioxidant curcumin. Turmeric supports a healthy digestive system, colon and liver. It also supports anti-inflammatory responses and is good for joints and natural healing. Turmeric also fights allergies, boosts immunity and enhances complexion.

Coriander SeedS

Balancing to all three doshas (tridoshic), it is a cooling spice that has sweet and astrigent tastes. It supports digestion, enhances appetite, treats allergies and also purifies the blood.

fennel seedS

Balancing to all three doshas (tridoshic), fennel is a cooling spice with a sweet taste reminiscent of licorice. Fennel is extremely supportive to digestion by enhancing the digestive fire without aggravating pitta. It is a common practice in India to eat toasted fennel seeds after a meal to aid digestion and freshen breath.

DRIED GINGER

Ginger is a warming spice that is pungent in taste and pacifying to vata and kapha doshas (in it's dry form it is less heating for pitta). Ginger aids digestion, enhances appetite, soothes stomach disorders and supports joint health and respitory system health.

ASAFOETIDA (HING)

Asafoetida is a warming spice with a pungent taste that is balancing to vata and kapha. It is a very powerful spice only needed in small quantities that enhances digestion and appetite and alleviates bloating.
