We are intrinsically interconnected with nature, and so our health and wellbeing is found in returning to nature.
What is Ayurveda
Āyurveda is a sanskrit word meaning the knowledge of life.
Ayurveda is India’s ancient holistic health and wellness system based on the simple yet profound principles of nature that guide all aspects of one’s life.
Ayurveda’s timeless teachings offers us a natural pathway to restore balance and health in our body-mind system, revive our connection with nature and spirit, and attain wellness, vitality, and longevity.
Ayurveda provides us with awareness and understanding of our own unique expression of nature and consciousness and empowers us to unlock our innate wisdom to heal naturally. Ultimately, any ailments we suffer from—whether physical, mental, emotional—are due to being out of alignment with nature.
Ayurveda emphasizes preventive holistic health through diet and lifestyle practices that are in alignment with nature’s rhythms and wisdom. Healing and rejuvenation is supported with plant medicines and herbs including nature’s fruits, flowers, leaves, barks, roots, seeds and oils.
You are a living composite of the universe. Everything in the external world can be found within you.
Tridoshas
Everything in the universe including us is made of a unique combination of nature’s 5 elements—ether, air, fire, water, earth—which interconnects us with the whole world. These fundamental elements are naturally grouped into three energies called doshas: vata (made of air + ether), pitta (made of fire + water), kapha (made water + earth). Together these three are called the tridoshas and are the three energies governing all the biological, physiological, and psychological functions of the body and mind and the world around us.
Each dosha holds different qualities and actions and the constant fluctuation of the tridoshas influence everything in the world including our bodies, mind, moods, the food we eat, the changes of seasons, the differences in geography and climate and so on.
