DYI Ayurveda Botanical Face Mask

Chickpea flour is a great base for a mineral face mask cleanser. It is tridoshic, meaning it is good for all dosas or body/skin types as it is not too drying or oily. Chickpeas are rich in magnesium which helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. They also balance the fatty acids in the body which increases the elasticity of the skin. The iron and copper found in chickpeas encourages blood circulation which helps detoxify. Chickpeas also are rich with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties and have a low glycemic index and act as a pH balancer, which help balance sebum, or oil, production. 

Turmeric is also tridoshic and contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that provide a natural vibrant glow and luster to the skin. Turmeric also helps reduce inflammation and decrease acne scars and decreases visible wrinkles and evens skin pigmentation.

Cinnamon has warming properties which is fine for all doshas in the fall, but can easily agitating and should be left out for those with pitta dosha or imbalance. Cinnamon helps increase collagen and elastin production which helps reduce the signs of aging.

I also offer an ayurveda botanical face mask: Renewing Sandalwood Mask with chamomile + matcha, a gentle exfoliant that soothes, softens, and strengthens skin for a renewed radiant glow.

The organic ingredients are: sandalwood powder, bentonite clay, kaolin white clay, moroccan red clay, aloe powder, chamomile powder, matcha green tea powder, turmeric, orange peel, lemon peel, triphala, ashwagandha


1/2 tablespoon chickpea flour
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
pinch of cinnamon powder
1-2 teaspoons unfiltered water (+/- depending on consistency preference)


Mix dry ingredients in a small bowl. Add in rose water, or lukewarm water, to create thick consistency. Spread generously all over face.

Leave on for 15-20 minutes (or before mask begins cracking).

Follow by massaging with lukewarm water to gently exfoliate and rinse.

Use 1-2 times per week.
